a reader life-time!

Reading — is the reason behind who I am today and what I will be. A major source of possibilities and opportunities came from my habit of reading.

I do not read any specific category or genre; however I really love to read — poetry, philosophy, autobiography of great thinkers, novel — fiction, self help or productivity.

Following is the best of 4:

The Four Agreements: A practical guide to personal freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz

I don’t remember who recommended this book to me but surely this is one of the best bought book in 2021, I read it once — slowly and surely going to re-read it many times, If you enjoy reading ‘philosophy’ this book should be always on your bedside:

The Four Agreement — Happen to have it by heart now are:

  • be impeccable with your words
  • do not take anything personally
  • do not make any assumptions
  • always do your best

The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth & Happiness by Eric Jorgenson

2021 — is the year when I came across this wise man — Naval Ravikant and his tweets, thoughts has really kept me thinking about all aspects of wealth, wisdom and happiness.

This book is an excellent piece to know more about this wise and genius man, excellent compilation by Eric Jorgenson, following is my favourite 4 quotes or lines from the book:

No one can compete with you on being you.
Most of life is a search for who and what needs you the most.
what you want in life is to be in control of your time.
show your craft, practice your craft and the right people will eventually find you.
Don’t take yourself so seriously. You’re just a monkey with a plan.

Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World by Cal Newport

This book has changed my idea of work; this simple thought has great potential in this time of multi tasking, everyone of us needs some sort of quality time where we can think it through of our days and life.

Following is 2 of my favorite idea from the book:

eudaimonia

(a state in which you’re achieving your full human potential)

&

The 4 disciplines of execution

  1. focus on the wildly important
  2. act on the lead measures
  3. keep a compelling scoreboard
  4. create a cadence of accountability

Tao te CHING: A Zen Poet’s View by D.R.Streeter

By far my most loved, re-read book of 2021!

By heart, I am a poet and this book by D. R. Streeter is a poetic expression of. the TAO, without trying to explain the TAO, he brings a clarity and greater understanding.

Tao-te-CHING is a song by Lao Tzu and we have so many versions and every version of it brings new meaning to the Reader.

Tao-te-CHING; The way means “just this, there is nothing more”

Quotes, close to my heart:

illumination is keeping the right distance
if you seek definition you will lose the whole

My takeaway from this version of Tao-te-CHING:

The simpler view of life can bring back the joy of nothingness, bliss in our everyday life and meaning to the meaningless journey.

A way to know without knowing

Thank you for reading!

Keep reading, keep sharing.

Astu.
